There were things I liked and disliked about assignment 5. I thought that learning the process of creating an interactive activity in PowerPoint was interesting and useful. Doing this assignment gave me new ideas of what is possible in PowerPoint, and what other activities I could make/utilize in a classroom. At the same time, and this could only be because of the activity I chose to create, it was largely a tedious process to create it. The assignment required many steps to be repeated, in my case this was ensuring each button went to the right slide, and each slide had the same buttons, etc...      I think that if I were to become a teacher, I would most likely work as an English educator/tutor. While this may be outside the typical U.S public school classroom, data collection would still be important. Its possible I could use past data collection, such as surveys, or quantitative data such as standardized English test scores, to shape how I teach. ...

My  experience in EME2040 has been nice so far. I have enjoyed taking this course asynchronously online, likely more than I would have in person in sync. I think that asynchronous online classes are best for courses having to do with any sort of digital literacy. I really like being able to work on assignments at my own pace in this course.       Open educational resources, or OER, are educational materials that are either public domain are otherwise allow free use, redistribution, or adaptation. OER can help provide access to classroom materials, be it lesson plans, books, or any other type of instructional material. This can be beneficial as it can reduce or eliminate some costs of education, like textbooks. OER can also save teacher time by reducing the amount of time required to develop a lesson.         https://www.edutopia.org/open-educational-resources-guide     I thought assignment 4 was a inte...

Overall I enjoyed the web design assignment. I have used weebly before but it has been many years. I think the first and last time I used weebly was my first year of high school. One thing I liked about the assignment was how we were able to use creative ways to fulfill the requirements. I think this assignment was a good intro to using something like weebly for later teaching positions or other jobs.  https://emeassignment3.weebly.com/     Diigo has been interesting to use and learn. It seems to be a lot at first, as there are many options and capabilities. The option to annotate, highlight, and leave notes while sharing to a group makes it helpful in collaborative situations. I can see how Diigo could be helpful in the classroom, as both teachers and students can share resources/information while attaching notes or important highlights.      The Participation Portfolio items have sometimes been helpful. They are usually interest...

After looking at a couple class pages online there seems to be a few common things listed on the classroom webpages. The pages always include the teachers name and contact information, along with basic information such as grade level and subject focus. I have noticed that they also usually include information for the week, such as homework assignments and lesson plans for the weeks classes. Other information includes important updates such as when class release times, and upcoming due dates.                                         https://stbrendanschoolbronx.org/6th-grade   Technology can greatly help in managing a classroom. Certain  technological tools can improve teacher outreach and teacher/parent relationships, encourage student engagement, increase the flow of knowledge in the ...

I have enjoyed using Diigo so far. Diigo is not something I have heard of before, but it seems to be a helpful tool for collaboration and discussion of relevant topics, articles, and research. I think that Diigo can be especially helpful in an online class, such as this one, to help make up for the lack of in person conversation. In the beginning though, Diigo did seem a bit difficult to understand but can be learned quickly.       Blogging has been an interesting component of this class. I think it helps sort of wrap things up for the week, or to reinforce the learning objectives. Blogging encourages the class to mentally process the assignments or objectives that we have reviewed for the module. It has also been helpful to learn about this blogging service along with how it works. It could be something that many of us continue to use later on.      One interesting Web 2.0 tool I have found, outside ones we have disc...

So far I have enjoyed using twitter. I have not had a twitter account since briefly in middle school, and though I have heard about it and seen posts before, the way it works is fairly new to me. I have been following various news sources, along with educational related material, most of it being research. I can see how twitter can be useful in getting information fast, especially new research and news worthy events. This could be helpful in a future career as staying up to date on certain events and research will be important no matter what field one is in.       The digital divide can affect student success in a few different ways. One way is if assignments require technology access/knowledge outside the classroom, where technology and instruction is provided. This divide may also continue outside of public education, leaving those who have lacked technology access in a position to make up for lack of technological knowledge/skill with li...
