Blog Post #7
After looking at a couple class pages online there seems to be a few common things listed on the classroom webpages. The pages always include the teachers name and contact information, along with basic information such as grade level and subject focus. I have noticed that they also usually include information for the week, such as homework assignments and lesson plans for the weeks classes. Other information includes important updates such as when class release times, and upcoming due dates.

Technology can greatly help in managing a classroom. Certain technological tools can improve teacher outreach and teacher/parent relationships, encourage student engagement, increase the flow of knowledge in the classroom, and can ease the workload of the teacher. One example of this is a classroom newsletter or blog. A collaboratively created classroom blog can help in teacher/parent outreach and engage students in reviewing the weeks materials to summarize in the blog.
I enjoyed working on the wiki. I was vaguely aware of the ability to create a wiki, though I never had before. It took a bit of getting used to, as it can seem like there is a lot of capabilities at first, but overall it was fairly easy to use and understand. There is a lot of potential for creating a wiki for a classroom. One thing I like about it is the potential for the wiki to be at least in part collaborative. The wiki could serve as a frequently updated classroom blog, while allowing students and teachers to update resource information, schedules, due dates, and engage in discussion.
