Hi EME2040 class,
I am an anthropology major and education minor. I have been at this university since the Fall of 2021 and will be graduating this summer. This class is the last education class for me to complete my minor, which I chose because of my interest in possibly teaching English after graduation. I also have an interest in working in my major, so I am currently seeking opportunities to both tutor English, and become involved in work outside school relating to archaeology.
I have used technology in an education setting both as a student and a tutor/teacher, although my experience with the latter is more limited. I have previously tutored English to English language learners at the local downtown library in which I often used videos, worksheets, articles, and quizzes I found online to incorporate into a lesson plan. I have also used online resources when I tutored math years ago. I am also currently figuring out the best ways I can use technology to tutor English remotely online.
My PLN greatly varies and changes each semester, as its heavily influenced on what I'm focused on learning, which changes at least a little bit each semester. Although since I have been at this school for a while, there are some fellow students and professors that I regularly communicate with and help me learn material each semester, so I would consider them a part of my PLN. Academic journal search engines like Jstor helps me find and read about current research regarding my major. Outside of academic learning I would consider some online communities part of my PLN, particularly when it comes to working on mechanical things like my truck or motorcycle.
